The most important point to remember when it comes to camping is that you need to always come ready. Even when you always check the weather prediction, it will not guarantee a rain-free trip. Let’s face it, it’s less fun to camp if it is pouring outside, but it doesn’t signify that the enjoyment should stop!
Your excursion will only be destroyed if you do not correctly reply to the requirements at hand. So here are 5 helpful hints for camping at the rain that you should practice:
Get Appropriate Clothing
When you’re planning to go outside and the prediction says the weather will be bright and sunny, that doesn’t mean you need to only bring clothes for bright weather. As previously mentioned, the weather outside is inconsistent so at the very least, bring a waterproof jacket, pants and boots. A rain poncho should be contained on your to-bring, too.
If you are expecting rain, bring the abovementioned pieces of clothing, deliver a wide-brimmed hat (it’s better to keep water off your head compared to some hood). Additionally, it is ideal to pack layers of clothing (bring some extra in case you get wet!) And don’t forget an excess set or two of socks!
Pick a Fantastic place to set up camp
If you’re about to camp in the rain, then it’s most ideal to pitch your tent on high ground. Keep in mind that water runs downhill and you don’t want to get all soaked while sleeping with setting up camp on the base of a hill. The norm is to select a level surface but through rainy weather, it would be better to set up your campsite on somewhat sloped terrain.
It would also help to lay a waterproof tarp on your tent floor to collect rainwater which will gradually pool beneath the tent.
Elect for no-cook foods
You know that cooking at a campsite is not that simple, what more when it is pouring? As you can still enjoy hot peppers and warm beverages, save yourself the hassle of cooking by preparing meals which don’t need cooking such as salads and sandwiches. Just think of it less equipment to carry (no heavy pans to attract!)
Keep these hints for camping in the rain at mind and even heavy downpour won’t have the ability to have in the way of your camping pleasure!
