Many campers love to program their trips during autumn season. It is no surprise however – with all the weather and the breath-taking fall foliage, you’ll definitely want to be outdoors. There are plenty of enjoyable activities you can enjoy during your autumn camping trip. Whether you’ll be camping solo, with family or your camping friends, fall season provides numerous alternatives to create your outdoor adventure more fun!
Prepare for your cool weather
Even though summer just stopped, you need to be ready for cool weather. Fall weather is quite unpredictable – it might be hot and sunny during the day, but quite chilly once the sun goes down. You wouldn’t want your trip to be ruined as you keep waking up at the wee hours of the morning cold and shivering.
That is why you need to come ready – pack layers of clothes and get prepared for many different conditions. Ensure that your tent and sleeping bag can keep up with the cold, too!
Schedule your cooking occasions
An important issue to remember is that the times are shorter during cool seasons and more importantly, food takes longer to cook if the weather remains chilly. Schedule your cooking times so to make sure that you appreciate your mealtimes – be sure that you cook dinner and clean up until the sun goes down!
Make bear-aware
Any camper understands that taking safety precautions against bears and other wildlife is obviously a must, but be extra cautious during fall season.
Keep your food in tight, sealed containers away from your tent and be sure that you properly dispose of your garbage.
Go Apple or Pumpkin Picking
There are many apple orchards in the country and several are near campsites. If you’re fortunate enough to have one close to your favorite campsite, contemplate apple picking during daily. To get even more in the spirit of fall, you might also decide to go pumpkin picking. You could even bring your own pumpkins to carve round the campfire! The kids will love it!
Fall foliage is breath-taking with beautiful hues of red, yellow and orange. This makes leaf collecting a great camping activity during the fall season! Collect different colours, sizes and shapes and set them on a scrapbook .
